The Contemporary Approach
The STOTT PILATES® brand is a contemporary method of pilates. Which means it takes the original work of Joesph Pilates and merges it with modern exercise principles, proven and accepted practices in biomechanics, rehabilitation and athletic performance enhancement. As a result, STOTT Pilates is recognized as one of the most effective and safest exercise methods available and is regularly recommended by Physical Therapist, Medical & Sports Medicine Doctors.

More than Just the Core
Pilates is about so much more than just the "core". While the core (abdominal, pelvic floor, glut & back muscles and diaphragm) certainly is a very important aspect of pilates, it is only the tip of the iceberg. Pilates works the body from the inside out. This means that balance and integrity of the deep stabilizing muscles of the entire body, all the tiny little muscles we don't even know we have, is restored. Proper biomechanics relies upon these stabilizers for efficient, graceful and pain-free movement.

The Pain Debate
Many in the fitness world actively promote a "no pain, no gain" approach and believe that the body must be torn down in order to build it up again. To some extent this is true; anything that is worth pursuing requires effort. Pilates understands that pain is information to be listened to and to be used. believes in working the body intelligently. STOTT Pilates takes a rational approach to fitness and believes that strengthening the body is what builds it up. If you think this is just promotional fluff, then take a look at the growing list of professional athletes and sports teams, people who know about "no pain, no gain", who have turned to Pilates to recover from/prevent injuries, improve performance and prolong careers.

Active Aging
With the increase of lifespans, athlete or not, the importance of maintaining our health and fitness in ways that are smart and safe, becomes even more apparent to ensure that we can enjoy healthy and active lifestyles for as long as possible.
Plus, Pilates is good for your brain too! Because pilates is a mind-body method that demands full concentration and focus on every exercise performed with deliberate precision, each session is over before you know it!
